Dr Shanika Balachandra graduated from St Bartholomews Medical School in London. She trained in psychiatry in London on both the University College Hospitals and the St Marys & Charing Cross schemes.

She has worked as a Consultant psychiatrist in PICU since 2009 for Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. She has worked as a consultant in male PICU, and since 2012 she has been a consultant in the female PICU, which admits patients nationwide.

Dr Balachandra chairs the Pan-London PICU Consultants Forum as well as chairing the CNWL Trustwide MDT PICU Committee.
