The Associates Committee provides a pathway to become more actively involved in NAPICU’s work. Whether you are an experienced professional or early in your career, this is your opportunity to join a national charity making a real difference in psychiatric intensive care contributing to guidance, events, and the future of the specialty.

Must be a NAPICU Ward or Personal member
Up to 3-year term (extensions must be approved by NAPICU Directors)
1-year probation
Minimum 1 activity per year (Participate in events, training, or publications)
Can attend NAPICU EC meetings online anytime or in Person (only if invited by the EC)
40% discount on members’ early conference rate.
Opportunity to be voted onto the Executive Committee

Invitation only, extended by an EC member.
Not required to hold NAPICU membership.

HOW THE ASSOCIATES COMMITTEE WORKS...

Apply or be nominated

You can apply to become an associate affiliate or member, however you may be nominated and invited to apply by one of our Executive Committee Members.

Join with a 1-year probation period

All associates while have a 1-year probation period where the NAPICU administration office will monitor your productivity to the NAPICU Committee.

Contribute at least one activity per year

Associates can attend Executive Committee meetings (online anytime; in-person by invitation).

My 24 years has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my professional life. I held Secretary, Director of Operations roles and currently Director of Policy and Public Engagement. I have had the privilege of helping to shape standards, guidance, and publications that have influenced PICU and mental health care nationally. This involvement goes far beyond professional development. Working alongside passionate and committed colleagues has created lifelong friendships and strong professional relationships built on shared values and purpose. I have felt continually challenged and inspired, keeping me up to date with developments in practice, policy, and service improvement.
