"I am new to the PICU field, having become manager in 2023, with an acute background before then. I attended the NAPICU conference in 2023 shortly after starting in the role and found this very interesting as a new world of practice. The team and I were fortunate enough to be able to be able to present on a subject we are most interested in, and won the award for best oral presentation as a result. Following this, we have been in contact with multiple PICUs from around the country, had visits and have further visits planned. We are the only PICU in our trust, and rely on sharing practice with other PICUs nationally, and the conference has been an amazing resource to allow that. I personally would recommend to any PICU to attend the NAPICU conference regularly as it is the perfect avenue to network with others, share practice, and to realise that the issues you experience on your own ward are often shared wider and you can discuss solutions."
