Chris Dzikiti is the Executive Director of Operations at the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Prior to this role, he served as the Chief Inspector of Healthcare from May 2024 to February 2025. Chris originally joined the CQC in October 2022 as Director of Mental Health, following his time as Deputy Director for the National Retention Programme at NHS England. With over 20 years of experience in healthcare transformation, delivery, and commissioning, Chris is a multi-professional leader, a registered mental health nurse, and a seasoned programme and project management expert. He has also held the role of Programme Director for mental health transformation in London, where he led large-scale change initiatives.
From 2017 to 2021, Chris worked internationally as a Global Healthcare Consultant for Health Education England in India, providing technical support to enhance mental health services. In addition to his executive roles, Chris is the Director of Operations for the National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (NAPICU). He is also a published author, having contributed a chapter on psychiatric intensive care to Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing – The Craft of Caring. Chris is deeply committed to equity and inclusion, particularly in supporting colleagues from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds. He actively mentors and coaches young professionals, helping to shape the next generation of healthcare leaders.
